HOUSTON – Let’s raise those glasses… it’s Wine Club Wednesday, Poured by H‑E‑B! This is the midweek pick me up that we all needed. On today’s show, we featured a cabernet and a prosecco that will help complete your next holiday dinner table.
First, we tasted Mionetto Valdobbiadene Prosecco, a single vineyard, luxury tier sparkling wine -- recognized by the Italian government as the best place to grow and make prosecco in the entire country. If you’re a prosecco lover, you can’t go wrong with this bottle! It has a golden straw color with aromas of flowers and fruits. It’s beautiful, with flavors of apple, peach and citrus. A wonderful appertivo for holiday parties, brunches and dinners.
Our second bottle was a cab from Stellenbosch, South Africa. Stark-Conde Cabernet, comes from family-owned vineyards in the Jonkershoek Valley which produce incredibly complex, robust cabernet. Fun fact, South Africa is one of the oldest wine producing regions outside of Europe, with the first recorded harvest in 1659, and over 95% of all South African wineries produce sustainably. This particular wine is a fantastic pairing for rich, meaty dishes like prime rib, beef wellington or a thick ragu sauce. It has beautifully balanced notes of wild cherry, sage and violet.
