Houston’s Cass-Barrington Academy Of Irish Dance demonstrates a traditional Irish jig

HOUSTON – When most people think of Irish dances, they immediately think of the popular Riverdance.

While that remains one of the most recognizable, there are many different jigs to learn about in time for St. Patrick’s Day!

A few of the dancers from the Cass-Barrington Academy of Irish Dance showed Lauren Kelly a few traditional moves.

Here are a few fun facts about the academy:

• The school was founded in 2005 by Erin Cass

• Owen Barrington joined in 2012, Owen is the 2008 World Champion, and toured with “Riverdance”!

• There are four studio locations: Katy, Webster, Spring, and The Heights

• There are classes for kids ages 5+, as well as adult classes too

• The group performs year -round, and compete locally, nationally and internationally

• They currently have 2 Regional solo champions, and one Regional champion team
