HOUSTON – Today on Houston Life, Derrick and Courtney caught up with some of this year’s lineup for the Houston Firefighter calendar, and they are a SMOKE SHOW—literally!
There are 10 men and 2 women in this year’s edition, making it the first time that there’s been a mix of both male and female firefighters. All firefighters have to audition for the calendar, and this year, women were strongly encouraged! The women will appear in the months of December and July.
About 30 firefighters auditioned this year, and often times, they challenge each other to do it! They spend hours at the gym, while planning and measuring their food so they can stay in shape. Sometimes firefighters are selected to appear in the calendar more than once, especially if they are fan favorites.
The calendar firefighters will be in-person at the Nutcracker Market this year on November 11th through the 13th, returning for the first time in many years. Starting Friday, November 4th, the calendars will be available for purchase online here. The cost is $35 and an additional $6 for shipping. Proceeds benefit the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association Charitable Foundation’s burned children’s initiative. The HPFFA charitable foundation absorbed the burned children’s fund and the calendar project last year.
The burned children’s project helps children in the Houston area who are burned or crippled by accidents or fires. If you can help support by purchasing a calendar, it helps that amazing cause. Consider buying one as a stocking stuffer this holiday season!
