HOUSTON – We want to make your life easier, and we know in the coming days you are going to be rushing out to the store to buy flowers. But what do you do when you get the wrapped bouquet from the grocery store?
Instead of just shoving them in a vase, we want to help you make your flowers look legit and luxurious. Floral Artist Ace Berry, owner of Fulshear Floral Design, taught us how to transform basic flowers into something extra wonderful!
When you first get your bouquet from a local shop, Ace says the first thing you should do is make sure the bunch ALWAYS has flower food! It can be found in a small pack tied to the stems. After you do that, when you make it to your final destination, grab your vase and HYDRATE!
You may want to trim down your florals, so the best way to cut them is at a 45-degree angle, the reason being is to preserve water. When you cut them horizontally, the stems will hit the bottom of the vase flat, drinking all of the water.
There’s really no wrong way to design a bouquet of flowers. However, make sure to cut your stems at different heights to create contrast, to avoid your florals standing straight up. And feel free to move them around until you’re satisfied with the final look!
When it comes to keeping them alive, frequently change the water for your arrangement every three days. When you take them out of the water, re-cut the stems at that 45-degree angle and trim them a tiny bit to give the stem a fresh start again!

Place your orders to design your bouquet! Ace says he’s expecting nearly 4,000 roses TOMORROW as his shop gears up for V-DAY next Tuesday!
