HOUSTON – Houston Life is taking you behind the scenes at ‘Wicked’.
The Broadway sensation ‘Wicked’ explores what happened in the Land of Oz - but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman born with emerald-green skin who is smart, fiery, misunderstood - and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships.
That is, until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other “wicked.”
Houston Life had the opportunity to go backstage before a performance to be part of the process and interview Elphaba and her make-up artist while she was getting into the green. From the elaborate costumes to the iconic set pieces, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how ‘Wicked’ comes to life.

Houston’s most popular musical is playing at the Hobby Center through July 2 as part of the Memorial Hermann Broadway at the Hobby Center 2022-2023 Season.
