Coquito: the holiday drink you never knew you needed

HOUSTON – Chanel Lockhart is an award-winning mixologist, she stopped by Houston Life to make the Puerto Rican seasonal drink, Coquito.

Her version is vegan and dairy-free with -

- full-fat coconut milk

- almond and cashew milk blend

- coco Lopez

- a ton of white rum (measure with your heart)

-cinnamon

-nutmeg

- Mix in blender and serve over ice. Garnish the rim with toasted coconut and add a cinnamon stick for looks

Chanel also makes a mean cocktail in anticipation of Dry January and for people who are sober-curious. She has worked in the industry for over 15 years and won the Texas Black Restaurant Weeks bartending competition.
