Houston – At he heart of Three King’s Day celebrations is the Rosca de Reyes cake. El Bolillo Bakery has been hard at work preparing these sweet treats.
Culturally, it marks the end of the holiday season. Three King’s Day is celebrated as the day the three wise men first saw baby Jesus and brought him gifts.
The Rosca de Reyes cake is a large brioche-style bread ring, with vibrant pieces of dried fruit paste called Ate, a crunchy cookie topping known as pasta, and colorful sugars. Hidden inside, is a figurine of baby Jesus. There’s a special job for the person who finds the baby in their slice.
You can head to any of El Bolillo Bakery’s four locations tomorrow to get your hands on one of those popular cakes.
