Create a revolution, not just a resolution for the New Year

HOUSTON – Dr. Shana D. Lewis, a licensed professional counselor, executive coach and international speaker, explains why she believes most people fail to keep their New Year’s resolutions going year-round.

Instead of a resolution she believes in creating a revolution.

Watch the video to learn how you can create a real action plan for what you want to accomplish in the New Year.

Plus, how you can hold yourself accountable and stay on track with your goals.

Dr. Shana’s NEW YEAR plan.

N - No Resolutions. I don’t believe in resolutions. I believe in a revolution. Your mind has to change before anything in your life actually changes. Its 90% mindset.

E - Evaluate what you really want or need to get where you want to go. Make sure its your desires and not someone elses. If it’s not yours you are less likely to reach it.

W - Write it down. Research will show that we are about 40% more likely to reach goals we write down on a daily basis

Y - Yell it to somebody. We are even more likely to accomplish goals that we share with someone else. It’s called accountability.

E - Eliminate people, places, or things that are not aligned with where you said you wanted to go. It’s time to clean house.

A - Always include a self care plan to support your goals. If you are not well you won’t be able to accomplish any goal you set.

R - Redesign the goal. Think BIG but move small - One of the biggest mistakes people make is making huge goals to move on right now. That overwhelms the brain. Take it in smaller chunks and you’re more likely to achieve it. Think 1% movement toward improvement daily. Making them in 90 day increments works better.

S - See It! Creating a vision of what you want to happen is critical in your ability to manifest it. You must see a thing before you can see a thing. Visual imagery is a powerful tool to use to do this.
