HOUSTON – Looking for activities to keep the kids busy indoors?
Get them started on a fun DIY project for wintertime.
It’s perfect for those chilly days when you can’t go outside and play.
Alexis Geissler, the owner and founder of Craftworx, shares 3 fun and easy ideas you can try, with items you might already have at home or in your craft closet.
Watch the video above to see how Houston Life’s Derrick Shore and Tessa Barrera did at making these crafts in studio.
3D Snowflakes
Materials:
- Template
- Card stock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Embellishments (glitter, sequins, etc.)
Directions:
- Download a 3D snowflake template HERE
- Print and cut out your template.
- Fold your hexagon in half, and then thirds to make a triangle.
- Fold your triangle in half lengthways and cut designs into the folded edge, making sure you don’t go all the way across.
- Open up the snowflake and cut along the dotted lines towards the middle.
- You’ve now got six individual triangles all joined together in the middle. Each triangle will become a point on your snowflake. Pick up the two corners of a triangle and bend them so one overlaps the other. Glue it into place to make a point.
- Apply glue to the ends and stick on your embellishments.
- You can attach yarn or thread to your snowflake if you wish to hang them.
- ENJOY!
