Meet the inspiring woman behind the commercial you’ve seen hundreds of times

HOUSTON – If you’ve watched television at all during the past year, you’ve very likely seen Deanna Colón singing and dancing in a colorful Jardiance Commercial. Turns out, the catchy tune has spread like wildfire – inspiring remixes, memes, and even workplace singalongs.

A native of Massachusetts, Deanna grew up in her parents’ Italian restaurant where she fell in love with cooking (and garlic) from a very young age. But she also had an undeniable gift: a beautiful singing voice and love of music she says came from her mother.

After attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, her career as a singer and songwriter was off and running – moving her first to New York City and then Los Angeles. Her vocal talent took her all the way to the Quarterfinals on the hit NBC show “America’s Got Talent” and she even appeared on Season 10 of Gordon Ramsey’s “Master Chef” -- all this while continuing to sing and write music. To date, her singing and songwriting can be heard in more than 200 film and TV projects like “Sex and the City,” “The Hills,” “Lipstick Jungle,” “America’s Funniest Videos,” and “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.” Her voice has been used many times to sing for other actors in television commercials for brands like Jack in the Box, Carvana, State Farm and Nabisco.

“I’m so grateful. How many people get to say that they wake up every day and they’re using God’s gifts and they’re touching people and making people happy and inspiring them to live.”

From a young age, Deanna was bullied about her weight and she’s determined to help others find their true selves and stop listening to the detractors. “That’s my whole message. You’re never too old, you’re never too fat, you’re never too ‘this’ and you’re never too ‘that.’ Just go do it. Just go do it and go for it.”

Today, Deanna is busier than ever. She’s a vocal coach, still songwriting, making public appearances around the country, and her TikTok and Instagram pages with her quick-moving cooking videos and life lessons have racked up millions of likes. Yes, there are some haters out there but karma will take care of them. At least that’s the philosophy of the 50 year old star who is living her best life.

“I always say to my voice students. I want to forever be the example to you of never give up. If you want to do something you put your mind to it you put in the work you put your head down and make it happen. I always say the sky’s not the limit, I am limitless.”
