HOUSTON – When Lance McCullers, Jr. takes the stage to host the seventh annual Houston Sports Awards, he’ll be wearing something tuxedo-like. He’ll have gotten ready with just enough time to get there, but not so early that his suit ends up getting wrinkled. And he may or may not have a prepared monologue.
The Astros pitcher told Houston Life’s Lauren Kelly that last year’s host and teammate Alex Bregman hadn’t given him any advice yet, but he might reach out to Bregman for some pointers ahead of the big night.
McCullers, Jr. will be hosting the star-studded event that honors Houston’s most elite athletes past and present. As he prepares, he took time to sit down to talk to Kelly about the experience and about life as a girl dad -- which he says includes full reenactments of “The Little Mermaid”. He told Kelly his older daughter plays Ariel. He plays every other part, including Ursula.
