Houston Firefighters are Ready to Rodeo at First Responders Day

bp America surprised some of our Houston firefighters live on Houston Life with free tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Hank Williams Jr. concert happening this coming Monday, March 4.

Firefighters on shift at HFD Station 90 and HFD Station 78 in West Houston thought they were attending training when Houston Life’s Melanie Camp arrived with a few of the team at bp America ready to hand out a large wad of tickets.

bp America’s Kimberly Coomber-Hallum said it was an honor to celebrate some of Houston’s first responders during the surprise, “thank you on behalf of bp America for all you do for us in our community,” she said.

Firefighter, Senior Captain Kent was happy to get free tickets. Her daughter is an FFA student and will be showing her Heifer on Monday. “We will be there Sunday through to Tuesday,” she said adding that going to the Hank Williams Jr. concert on Monday night for free will be, “perfect.”

Captain Howard shared the good news to his wife Kim on live TV saying, “Honey, we got tickets to the Rodeo!” He told Houston Life, “We missed a couple of years and she was asking last week if we were going...”

Brett Clanton said HFD Station 90 and HFD Station 78 is just down the road from the bp America headquarters, “our first call goes into Station 78, Station 90...and we just want to express our deep heartfelt thanks.”

Monday, March 4 it is First Responders Day presented by bp at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

“It is absolutely our honor. We have been a title sponsor of First Responders Day at RodeoHouston since 2016 and we keep doing it as a way to say, ‘thank you’ to our first responder community for keeping us all safe here in Houston,” Brett said.

First Responders Day presented by BP is a day when The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo salutes all of our local heroes from the emergency services agencies in the Houston Metropolitan Area. On the day there is special equipment and services on display and at 4PM there will be a special ceremony honoring first responders.

Plus all day on Monday, March 4, all first responders with a badge, plus four of their family members, are offered free admission to NRG Park grounds. Thanks to bp America the firefighters from the surprise drop off will get the added bonus of going to the Rodeo and Hank Williams Jr. concert.
