HOUSTON – Explore the big blue sea on the big screen at the 4th Annual Houston Underwater Film Festival (HUFF) this weekend, April 6 and 7, at MATCH Houston.
Married couple and event co-chairs Craig and Betsy Beasley use their love of the ocean, diving, and marine life to organize the event and give underwater filmmakers from around the world a platform to showcase their work. According to the Beasley’s, the two-day event would not be possible without the support from volunteers, the dive community, and the Houston Underwater Photographic Society (HUPS).
From coral reefs to sharks and the art of underwater dancing, viewers will experience the beauty of marine life through various cinematic storytelling techniques.
Saturday, April 6 film categories:
- Protect and Respect the Oceans
- Short Video
- Art House Flicks
Sunday, April 7 film categories:
- Made in Texas
- Dance and Free Diving
- Animation
- Feature Length
Viewers will also have a chance to meet the filmmakers, vote for the best film, and enter a raffle. Raffle prizes include diving trips, equipment, accessories, art, and more, and you must be present to win.
HUFF’s mission is to promote underwater filmography, raise awareness of the ocean’s beauty, diversity, and inhabitants, and educate people on marine life conservation.
