HOUSTON – To celebrate National Ramen Day on April 4, Houston Life’s Melanie Camp took one lucky KPRC 2 Insider, Rayvn Hack and her friend Pauline, out to lunch to try the limited edition crawfish ramen at Ramen tatsu-Ya in Montrose.
Called “The Crawmen,” this dish is basically a crawfish boil in a bowl. A Cajun-spiced deliciousness of crawfish and andouille sausage combined with bayou butter, and a succotash of corn made with bell peppers and tomatoes in a crawfish tonkotsu broth, topped with a marinated ajitama egg.

Before lunch, General manager and chef, Todd Patterson took us into the kitchen to see how Ramen Tatsu-Ya make their limited edition crawfish ramen. Check it out in the video below
Ramen Tatsu-Ya recently celebrated their 7th birthday. They opened Houston in 2017. The restaurant is open from from 11 AM-10 PM daily at 1722 California Street in Montrose just look for the giant lucky cat! “The Crawmen” is only available until April 21.
“Eat Like a Local” featured restaurant Crawfish Shack is doing the boil, and Texas Leaguer Brewery, Haak Winery, and Daiquiri Joe’s are on site for beer, wine, and frozen beverages.
We’ll have a kids area AND an awesome Battle of the Bands hosted by our own Justin Stapleton. Chris Shepherd and several members of our news and HL teams will be on site to hangout and meet attendees.
At 4 p.m, Chris and Owen Conflenti will take the stage for an entertaining conversation about food and what Chris has learned in his first season of doing “Eat Like a Local” in Houston!
