HOUSTON – This event is all about skateboarding, breaking barriers, and girl power!
Girls Roll on Wheels (GROW) is happening this Saturday, April 27. It is a free event, and open to girls of all ages and abilities.
It’s a great way to connect with other skaters, make new friends, and encourage young girls with confidence in a male-dominated sport.
But how did Girls Roll on Wheels start?
Meet 51-year-old Lori Peltier. She has been passionately skateboarding since she was 12. Peltier used her love of skateboarding and founded GROW to empower young girls to skate in a non-intimidating environment.
Peltier first hosted the event in 2009 when it was called Babes on Board. Now rolling into its 15th year, the event has been GROWing, including special appearances by female Olympic athletes. This year, young girls will be able to meet USA Skateboard Olympia Jordyn Barratt.
