Let Houston Life plan your itinerary in New Braunfels this summer

From the Comal to a water coaster, the city has something for the entire family

New BraunfelsHouston Life took over New Braunfels! Just over three hours west of Houston, the city is the perfect destination for the family or a romantic getaway.

For the kids, Mel Camp spent some time exploring the new kid-friendly park in Schlitterbahn complete with a first-of-its-kind kids water coaster! She also visited Landa Falls to find out all the ways to have fun on the water. Tubing the Comal isn’t your only option.

Plus, is it really a trip to the hill country without some wine? Lauren Kelly set out to Gruene where you can try one of the largest selections of Texas wines in the area. She also visited the iconic Gruene Hall. Photojournalist Lenny Juarez also visited the historic Gruene Mansion Inn. It was originally built as a private residence in 1872. Now, it operates as a unique home away from home.

Derrick Shore spent the day visiting the various places throughout the city like the charming Prince Solms Inn and Sidecar, a hidden speakeasy within the Inn.

The fun doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down. Photojournalist Enrique Ramirez took a look at a New Braunfels ghost tour to hear some spine-tingling tales of the city’s past.
