HOUSTON – Neighbors helping neighbors. That’s one way Reliant is helping power up our local communities.
From recovery efforts after a disaster strikes to supporting community programs like Houston Habitat for Humanity - volunteers from reliant are always willing to jump into action and lend a helping hand.
Leanne Schneider, the senior director of community relations with Reliant, stopped by Houston Life to chat about Reliant’s community involvement.
Reliant is also a community partner for the annual KPRC 2 Houston Habitat Home Build.
Two years ago, Reliant made a $50,000 donation as part of a three-year commitment to support the KPRC 2 Habitat Home, which is in Robins Landing in Northeast Houston.
They also serve as the official energy provider of the community.
Schneider shared that Reliant has contributed $75,000 in electricity credits, a Nest thermostat for each of the 100 Habitat homes in Robins Landing as well as an entire year of free electricity for the Adams family, the recent KPRC Habitat Home homeowner.
Reliant was also part of recent storm recovery efforts. They recently teamed up with the YMCA of Greater Houston to provide water and snacks for 16 YMCA centers that were open as a place for residents to gather and cool off from the heat.
Reliant will partner up and support the American Red Cross Telethon on June 5.
