Houston – In a bustling city with millions of people, it’s easy to feel like your search for a love connection is crawling along. Fortunately, there’s help out of the dating gridlock.
Matchmaker, Stephanie Osgood, is one of the directors at It’s Just lunch. “I’ve been matching my clients since 97,” she told Houston Life’s Melanie Camp on a visit to the It’s Just Lunch offices in Uptown.
It’s Just lunch is a dating service for busy professionals intent on finding their match.
“Intentional is letting yourself be vulnerable and be able to say, I intentionally am ready to meet someone. I want to do it the right way. I’m going to show up, I’m going to experience it, and I’m going to put myself out there. But I want to meet someone that I’m worthy of and that is worthy of m,” explained Osgood.
Potential clients for it’s just lunch, have to be ready to date with the intention of meeting their special person. If they are not, Osgood guides them to come back when they are ready.
“That’s why I always interview someone first and let them know where I can help them,” she said.
Stephanie does everything face-to-face.
“They all have to come in my office, sit in a chair and actually do an interview with me face-to-face. No zoom, no computers, no algorithms. It’s personalized. My hand-picked matchmaking. Every single client comes in, put pen to paper in their own handwriting, writing down their intentions, writing down their what they’re looking for. That already right there speaks leaps and bounds. Not just clicking a button,” Osgood explained.
It is not a dating app or an online service, an It’s Just Lunch matchmaker makes the initial connection.
“We take care of all the legwork. We call all matches, we tell them about each other, all the details. We even make their reservations,” said Osgood.
All potential matches have to do is get dressed and show up. After the date, honest feedback is an important part of the process.
“Being detailed with that feedback gives me the idea of where I’m focusing next. That’s the journey of it. Your job is feedback and show up. Dating should be fun. If it’s not, you’re not doing it right,” explained Osgood.
Fear is something Osgood said keeps people from finding someone special.
She said, when people say, “I don’t want to be with the wrong one. I don’t want to sign up for the wrong one and he ends up being a jerk. That’s fear. It’s fear of rejection. Fear of not succeeding. It’s all it is, but it presents differently. When you start dating right way, it’s fun when you start having fun and really loving and living in that joy, you bring the right people in.”
