Houston, TX – With school out and the kids at home, Discovery Green is thrilled to offer free and fun activities for everyone in the Houston community.
“I like to say Discovery Green is the coolest place in town and I mean the figuratively but also literally because of all the green space, “Marketing Director of Discovery Green, Frankie Ortega, told Houston Life.
Spanish Yoga, English Yoga, and Bilingual Zumba are among some of the offerings as part of Discovery Greens, Healthy Living calendar.
“This summer we are trying to encourage people to continue to get out and have fun, stay fit and healthy, that is our mission,” Ortega said.
Extended hours are also being added to the 12-acre urban green space. The Gateway Fountain, which typically operates until 7pm, will be open until 9pm, allowing kids to splash around longer in the cooler evening hours.
The summer programming includes: summer movies, a live podcast taping, and free dance lessons during “Park After Dark.” Gretchen “CoachGee” Jean, a former Rockets Clutch City Dancer will lead the class.
“I think it was just instilled in me, as soon as I could walk, I was dancing. It’s just something that I love, it’s my passion,” CoachGee said.
