Houston – Constance Howard continues to make waves in the music industry...literally! Following her run on season 22 of NBC’s The Voice the 29-year-old just released her new single titled “Oceans.”
Howard made her fourth appearance on Houston Life to discuss what she has been up to since her TV debut. Howard says right after she was eliminated she went straight into the studio. She also found out she was pregnant and spent the next nine months making new music. Howard announced her pregnancy on Houston Life and now, her twin girls are just over a year old.
Howard’s single “Oceans” is inspired by a Puerto Rican vacation with her husband. “Just the calmness, and the peace, and the happiness of being on the beach, it just inspired me to come home and write something about love peace and happiness and I wanted to relate it to the ocean”, says Howard. “Oceans” is three years in the making and is a re-recording after she was not happy with the first draft. “I am a perfectionist, for sure!”, while laughing with co-hosts Derrick Shore and Tessa Barrera.
The Katy-native is a Academic Support teacher in Katy ISD and says her kids were nervous about the STAAR state exams so she created a fun rendition of Beyoncé's “Texas Hold ‘Em” hit to give them some encouragement. She’s grateful for their support and the support of her family.
When asked about advice for other artists seeking a big break, Howard says to set goals, go for them, keep going and never give up.
