Houston – With a career spanning over three decades, country singer Rick Trevino has proven himself as a versatile and enduring artist.
The Houston native stepped into the spotlight in the early 1990s with hits like “Just Enough Rope” and “She Can’t Say I Didn’t Cry.” It was his bilingual approach to country music, blending English and Spanish lyrics that set him apart within the genre. Now 31, years later, Trevino remains a dynamic performer, touring the country and accepting to headline the 2024 Ford Bend County Fair. Houston Life reporter Mel Camp was there as he was revealed as the act closing out the 10-day event in Rosenberg.
Before he meets crowds at the fair, Trevino is touring through Texas in the coming weeks making stops in Bandera, Tomball, Navasota, and La Grange.
Twenty-six years after “Running Out of Reasons to Run,” his subsequent #1 smash, he’s still working hard in the summer. His latest single “The Ride,” is a heartfelt journey through his life that serves as a word of advice to younger listeners. Trevino performed it for the first time on guitar and live TV for Houston Life.
Trevino also chatted with Shore and Guzman about his tie to Houston. He was born in Space City but moved to Austin when he was five years old. When asked about his go-to spot in Houston, Trevino doesn’t shy away from his Mexican roots stating that Taqueria Del Sol on Broadway is his favorite. His order? Caldo de anything!
Keep up with Trevino on his website and social media.
