Lone Star College is providing a pathway into a billion dollar industry and feeding the Houston economy

HOUSTON – Lone Star College campuses are spread across the greater Houston area each dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable education that serves students and the community.

You can go to any hospital in the Houston area, and the chances are you’re going to run into a former Lone Star College student because our medical programs are just that strong. If you need your AC worked on, the chances are you probably going to run into one of our former HVAC students,” said Lone Star College-Houston North President, Dr. Quentin Wright.

With over 200 programs, Dr. Wright said the school takes pride in having something for everyone.

Lone Star College not only provides education in traditional careers like nursing or teaching but also serves to feed newer, high-growth industries with graduates from their E-Sports program, which is a first in Texas. “We’re trying to make sure that we have those programs to meet industry needs, but also that we’re preparing for whatever the future may be,” said Dr. Wright.

For E-Sports, the future looks bright. A billion-dollar-industry-kind-of-bright.

Lone Star College wants to help you take the next step in following your dreams. The Lone Star College Registration Fair is August 6 and 7, 2024 at all Lone Star College main campuses.

Experts in admissions, advising, placement, testing, and financial aid will all be onsite to help guide potential students through the myriad opportunities available.

“Our foundation is very active and gave over $2.2 million in scholarships last year. So if that’s a worry for students, we say, hey, come to our to it, talk to us. We have financial aid representatives available and they will help you learn how to pay for college,” said Dr. Wright.

Financial aid is not the only support Lone Star College offers students.

“We have a lot of support, a lot of wraparound services. Over the past few years, we have invested a lot in helping students with their basic needs. So in addition to tutoring support and advising support, if a student has an issue with food insecurity, if a student has technology needs, or clothing issues; then we help them with that...because we do not want anything to be a barrier,” said Dr. Wright.
