Hey parents! Ease your kids back into school with these small changes and tips

Houston – With summer in the rearview, kids might have difficulty returning to their routines, especially if they’re starting a new school, becoming an independent 6th grader, or stepping into high school.

There are things parents can start to do that can make a big difference. Evan Weinberger, president and CEO of Staying Ahead of the Game Academic Coaching and Tutoring stopped by to share his helpful tips and small changes you can implement in your back-to-school routines.

Here’s what he suggests.

Practice the school year routine

  1. Start getting up & dressed early
  2. Back to normal mealtimes & bedtimes
  3. Implement school year digital diet
  4. Make age-appropriate checklists

Set up a schoolwork zone at home

  1. Outside the bedroom
  2. Not too noisy or quiet
  3. Near natural light
  4. Close to supplies
  5. Solid internet connection
  6. Minimal distractions

Set goals for the new school year

  1. Reflect on previous school year
  2. Set achievable goals for new school year
  3. Revisit goals regularly
  4. Physical & digital organization
  5. Set up binders for success
  6. Set up computer for success
