Expert tips for finding the best wardrobe colors for your skin tone, hair and eye color

HOUSTON – Have you ever noticed some colors look better on you than others? Or that sometimes wearing black makes you look tired? Image consultant, stylist and color expert Natalie Weakly says there’s a science behind it.

“If you’re wearing the wrong colors it tends to drag your face down which adds a little bit of age -- which I’m not in the mood for,” joked Weakly.

She says in order to look your best, there’s a specific checklist of things to consider.

“When we’re thinking about how to find colors that look best on you, we’re thinking about three things: hair color, eye color and skin tone,” explained Weakly.

For instance, if you’ve ever been told that pink doesn’t look good on you, Weakly says we shouldn’t write off that specific color entirely; it might be the shade or tone of the pink (think warm tones vs. cool tones) that doesn’t suit you best.

When it comes to black, conventional wisdom tells us it’s slimming, professional, and great for any occasion -- and many times it is. But Weakly cautions it can sometimes be the wrong choice!
