Head to Galveston for a German Oktoberfest with an island twist

Galveston – The history of Oktoberfest in Galveston dates back to 1982. They’re celebrating 42 years this year, but, it wasn’t until Hurricane Ike that a true fellowship at the First Lutheran Church was born. The island had been decimated by the storm, but the community gathered for the first time at the church that evening to check in with each other.

That fellowship continues to grow year after year, and now the island will celebrate years of bringing family and friends together for their version of Oktoberfest.

Our Tessa Barrera was chosen to tap the keg once again this year so she headed down south to Galveston to give us a preview. Watch the player above to see her tuba skills!
