HOUSTON – Dive into a world of Islamic art at the largest and oldest art festival of its kind in the United States. The Islamic Arts Festival is returning to Houston for its eleventh year on November 9 and 10.
This vibrant celebration of culture and tradition offers everyone - from art enthusiasts to those curious about new experiences - a chance to explore a stunning variety of artistic expressions that reflect the rich diversity of the Islamic world.
Hosted by the Islamic Arts Society the festival has come a long way. What began as a small gathering of talented artists displaying their work at a mosque in Spring, TX has now expanded its upcoming festival to a new venue at the University of Houston.
Plus this family-friendly festival is expanding its lineup to feature a comedy show, film festival, and live Sufi music concert by the renowned Al Firdaus Ensemble from Spain. While admission, workshops, and demonstrations are free, some new programs like the comedy show and Sufi concert are special ticketed events with a price.
Board President of the Islamic Arts Society and Ebru artist Shaheen Rahman stopped by the studio with a live Ebru demonstration, a Turkish art of painting to create stunning designs. Watch the live demonstration in the video above.
