This local company in Houston is helping neighbors power on through outages, without permitting issues

HOUSTON – Believe it or not, some people in Houston do not experience outage anxiety during a storm. That is because they have the right backup power system.

However, not everybody can install a whole-home generator at home, which is where Bronco Power comes in. Bronco Power Boost founder and CEO “Bronco Billy” Whittaker said this is “the whole reason that Bronco was born.” Not everyone can get a permit for a whole-home generator due to “lot line issues, easements, or noise ordinances,” explained Whittaker.

Paul Grabowski and his family live in a townhome in Houston’s Memorial Park area, and permitting limited Grabowski’s options for getting a whole-home generator.

“After the Derecho and Beryl and running cords throughout the house, I was done... we’ve been looking for a system for quite some time,” explained Grabowski, who ultimately found a solution in the Bronco Power Boost’s new hybrid system.

The system allows homeowners to maintain power during an outage and run essentials, including central AC and heat.

Now, whenever there is an outage in the neighborhood, Grabowski said he opens the garage and invites the neighbors in. “I’ve shown them the system and said, here’s what I’m doing...for where we live, this has been the perfect setup for us.”

After a very active storm season over the summer, the threat of power outages still lingers for many Houstonians.

Did you know that from 2000 through 2023, Texas saw the most major power outages in the United States? And this does not include the 2024 season.
