Meet the rising Houston star bringing ‘The Little Prince’ to life at Opera in the Heights

HOUSTON – At just 12 years old, Daniel Karash already has an impressive list of acting credits to his name.  His first professional role was in the 2021 Houston Grand Opera production of ‘My Favorite Things: Songs from the Sound of Music.’ He has also performed at Theatre Under the Stars in ‘Newsies’ and ‘Mary Poppins,’ has worked with the Rice Shepherd School Opera and he has even toured Asia with the Broadway International Tour of ‘The Sound of Music.’

For this confident 7th grader, playing the title role in Opera in the Heights’ production of ‘The Little Prince’ comes naturally.

“It’s been very fun so far, I’m super excited to play this,” said Karash.

Opera in the Heights Artistic and Interim General Director Eiki Isomura, who will be conducting the orchestra for the production, believes this professional regional opera company is the perfect stage for emerging artists.

“People come here for world-class training and there are so many performance opportunities that people make Houston their base of operations, “said Isomura, who has led more than a hundred performances of more than 25 operas at Opera In the Heights.

‘The Little Prince’ runs from Friday, December 6th through Sunday, December 15th. For a link to find tickets visit operaintheheights.org.
