Transform your pumpkin into holiday décor with these easy DIY ideas

HOUSTON – Do you still have pumpkins leftover from Halloween and don’t know what to do with them? Not to worry. Craft expert Alexis Geissler from Craftworx shares her easy DIY pumpkin craft ideas that will elevate your holiday decor in no time.

Whether repurposing old pumpkins or picking up fresh ones, scroll down to discover fun and creative ways to transform these festive gourds into stunning decorations.

1. Decoupage Napkin Pumpkin

  • Pumpkin (real or faux)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Paper napkins

Directions:

  1. Pull backing off the napkin.
  2. Cust semi-circle from the napkin and into 4 pieces.
  3. Add mod podge to the top part of the pumpkin.
  4. Start placing napkin pieces.
  5. If there is a crease, cut and overlap pieces as needed.
  6. Continue to add napkin pieces and mod podge until the pumpkin is covered.
  7. Cover the entire napkin-wrapped pumpkin with mod podge to seal it.
  8. Let it dry.
  9. Set out for some simple Thanksgiving décor!

2. Decoupage Dried Flower Pumpkin

  • Pumpkin (real or faux)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Dried flowers

Directions:

  1. Add mod podge to the top part of the pumpkin.
  2. Start placing dried flowers in a pleasing pattern/design.
  3. Continue to add flowers and mod podge until the pumpkin is covered or your design is complete.
  4. Cover the entire design on the pumpkin with mod podge to seal it.
  5. Let dry.
  6. Add to your dining table for a natural tablescape!

3. Decoupage Kid’s Pumpkin

Materials:

  • Pumpkin (real or faux)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint brush
  • Scissors
  • Embellishments

Directions:

1) Add mod podge to the top part of the pumpkin.

2) Start placing embellishments.

3) Continue to add embellishments and mod podge until the pumpkin is covered or your design is complete.

4) Cover the entire design on the pumpkin with mod podge to seal it.

5) Sprinkle glitter, if desired.

6) Let dry.

7) Add your pumpkin to your front porch or somewhere in your home to add extra festiveness!
