After dislocating his shoulder in the 1960′s, this Houston man finds relief from pain trying a different type of therapy

HOUSTON – John McIntosh first injured his shoulder in the 1960s. “When I was in college, I had a little sports accident and dislocated my shoulder,” he explained. Doctors at the time recommended surgery, which McIntosh said was not a path he wanted to follow. “1964. Surgery was really something pretty terrible...so I never had it taken care of,” he said.

Then in February this year, McIntosh fell off a ladder.

While McIntosh said he suffered through the pain in his left shoulder for “mostly all of my life,” in February he was forced into action after falling off a ladder. Landing on his left side with his arm flying violently in the air, McIntosh said in the aftermath he was left barely able to move his left arm.

McIntosh learned about NexGenEsis while watching KPRC 2 and thought their alternative pain relief therapies, which target joint pain and neuropathy, were worth exploring. Dr. Joe Fuhrman and Dr. Abhishek Reddy said their innovative treatments help patients tap into their bodies’ natural healing capabilities. At the NexGenEsis Healthcare clinic in Houston, McIntosh found relief from suffering decades of pain.

Dedicated to helping patients find relief from pain, the NexGenEsis team focuses on treating two common types of pain: neuropathy and joint pain.

Dr. Reddy describes neuropathy as nerve damage that can stem from various sources, including chemotherapy, diabetes, poor circulation, and past surgeries. This condition often presents distressing symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and burning sensations, predominantly affecting the feet and hands. Balance issues may also be a consequence of neuropathy, complicating daily tasks.

Osteoarthritis is a significant cause of joint pain, as the gradual wear and tear of joint cartilage leads to discomfort, decreased mobility, and a lower quality of life.

Dr. Reddy explains that the treatments offered at NexGenEsis leverage the body’s natural healing capabilities. They use a combination of the patient’s own biologics and advanced therapies to help the body heal itself. When referring to ‘their own biologics,’ they extract healthy cells, growth factors, and molecules from the patient and reintroduce them into the affected areas.

Finding effective treatment is crucial for patients dealing with the uncertainties and complexities of pain. Understanding when to seek assistance for pain is vital. Dr. Fuhrman emphasizes that neuropathy symptoms can worsen over time; even minor signs like tingling or numbness should prompt a medical evaluation. Early assessment by orthopedic or neurological specialists at NexGenEsis can lead to timely interventions and customized treatment plans.

NexGenEsis is currently offering a complimentary phone consultation for the first 50 callers who mention “Houston Life.” To take advantage of this offer, interested individuals can call (832) 570-4529 or visit nextgenesishealthcare.com.
