Houston – A Houston Life favorite, Ben Chavez is bringing holiday magic to the stage and Studio B this season. With acting, singing, and songwriting skills under his belt, the holiday season has been busy for him with no slowing down in sight.
In November, he released two original holiday singles: the upbeat and fun “Finally Home For Christmas” and the heartfelt duet “In My Arms This Christmas” featuring NYU student Melanie Herrera. He says both tracks are perfect additions to any festive playlist next to your favorite classics. Both of these catchy songs are available to stream.
Now through December 29, 2024, you can find him on stage performing in Disney’s Frozen at Theatre Under The Stars, where he’s part of the ensemble and understudies the role of Kristoff. The long run gives families plenty of time to see it!
Beyond Frozen, Ben is gearing up for an exciting 2025, including a role in West Side Story at Houston Grand Opera, his new single “Golden Era” at the start of the new year, and the premiere of his award-winning original musical Last Day, County Fair in March. He was one of three artists selected for the New/Now: The Houston Artist Commissioning Project at Performing Arts Houston. Last Day, County Fair is a collection of songs about a fictional character who is queer. Chavez says it talks about Queer identity and a lot of his favorite musical genres with a country twist.
This holiday season is particularly special for Ben, as he recently celebrated his wedding to his partner, Walker. The beautiful ceremony at Buffalo Bayou Park was officiated by former KPRC 2 chief meteorologist Frank Billingsley.
