Houston – Ace Berry, the owner of Ace in Full Bloom and Fulshear Floral Design, is a proud Texan who almost 20 years ago, made a transition from working in oil and gas to the world of floral design. After being laid off unexpectedly, he decided to switch gears and find a “recession-proof” career -- flowers. What began as an idea has now blossomed into a flourishing business, with Ace receiving high praise in the floral world, television appearances, and international events.
In November 2019, Berry was contacted by HBO Max to join a floral competition show. He eagerly jumped in, and though he didn’t take home the first-place prize, it helped him build his brand and opened many doors for his business.
For a third year, Berry has been invited back to work the Orchid Dinner at the New York Botanical Garden. His stunning pieces were auctioned off for hundreds of thousands of dollars, all to benefit the New York Botanical Garden.
In Studio B, he visited us despite his busy schedule of being a full-time florist, owner, and lead designer for Fulshear Floral Design in Fulshear. He shared some of his favorite tips for creating beautiful winter centerpieces by cutting flowers at different lengths and combining textures. The easiest tip? Smiling through the whole thing
Berry also mentions that his DIY floral kits are perfect for beginners and those looking to explore their creativity.
In addition to his design work, Ace in Full Bloom also brings his talents to his local community in Fulshear for an event called ‘Friday Night Flowers,’ where people can come together, learn floral techniques, and just have fun.
For anyone considering a major career change, Ace has one key piece of advice: “Lean into your passion,” Failure is a good motivation to keep going.
If you want to try floral design yourself, follow Ace on social media or visit his store in Fulshear for classes, events, and beautiful floral creations.
