Fung’s Kitchen, a staple in Houston’s culinary scene, has been delighting diners since 1990. Owned by Hoi Fung, a fourth-generation chef, the restaurant is renowned for its authentic Hong Kong-style Chinese cuisine. Located at 7320 Southwest Freeway, Google Maps describes the restaurant as a “sprawling spot for dim sum & seafood.” Over the years, the original restaurant has grown into a space that fits 800 diners during the weekend pushcart dim sum service.
Chef Fung has continued his family’s culinary legacy, working alongside his wife, Nancy, and their children. His daughter, Dory Fung, is a pastry chef carrying on the family food linage.
Fung’s Kitchen has always been a beloved destination for food enthusiasts, but one dish has social media abuzz. The latest sensation at Fung’s Kitchen is the Lobster Mountain special, which has taken social media by storm. Priced at $168, this dish includes six fresh lobsters weighing a total of 8 pounds and is prepared with Chef Fung’s secret spicy crispy jalapeño recipe. The spices in his sauces remain a mystery, even to his daughter, Dory.
Fung’s Kitchen serves dim sum every day and has it available for takeout, though Chef Fung prefers diners to eat in and get their food fresh from the kitchen. Pushcart dim sum is available on weekends and holidays. The restaurant is not open on Mondays but is open on Christmas Day.
A cornerstone of Houston’s dining scene, Fung’s Kitchen blends tradition with innovation and offers a taste of Hong Kong in the heart of Texas.
