Houston-area ceramists & artists team up to help fight hunger

HOUSTON – This annual event has raised more than a million dollars for the Houston Food Bank, and has provided millions of meals for the hungry each year.

Empty Bowls Houston is an unique lunch fundraiser that brings Houston area ceramists, woodturners and artists together to give back to their communities.

With a $25 donation, event attendees can shop and select a hand-crafted bowl, made by a local artisan, to bring home.

The 19th annual event will take place Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be live artist demonstrations throughout the event, and live music in the outdoor garden.

All attendees who purchase bowls will enjoy a salad or wrap from Salata, and hot and iced coffee from Katz’s Coffee.

Event chair, Samantha Oldham - along with woodturners, Chuck Graham and Don Fluker, recently stopped by Houston Life to chat about Empty Bowl’s community impact and what’s new this year.
