We’ve had quite an eventful week: severe weather, an eclipse, and we’ve learned there’s a federal investigation into a Memorial Hermann surgeon for possibly manipulating donor base records. It may be the start of the weekend, but we’ll stay tuned as we continue to track this story and more.

Grab the sweater if you are an early riser—morning temperatures are excellent in the low and mid-50s. The afternoon is headed for the 70s, and by Friday evening, it will be warming to 82! Saturday, another refreshing morning in the 50s and ends up in the low to mid-80s, making it easy to eat crawfish at KPRC2′s crawfish fest.

Report: Houston surgeon accused of ‘secretly’ rejecting liver transplants
Officials are investigating allegations that Dr. J. Steve Bynon Jr. was “secretly” altering transplant databases, with the intention of making some of his patients ineligible for liver transplants. On Thursday, Memorial Hermann said in a statement that it had found evidence implicating Bynon.
At least 5 charged amid Houston police review of over 264,000 suspended case
Since first learning of the suspended cases due to a lack of personnel back in February, Finner says his department has since reviewed 81,650 of the total 264,000 incident reports that were labeled “SL, Suspended—Lack of Personnel.”
Of those 81,650 cases, Finner said 26,000 of the incidents were rightfully suspended but wrongly coded. He said instead, they should have been coded as lack of leads, arrest by a patrol, or arrest by an emergency detention order.
