1 shot multiple times in Burger King parking lot near Rice Village

One man was injured after he was grazed by two bullets during lunchtime at the Burger King on Kirby Drive and South Blvd just north of Rice Village.

Police say a gunman fired five times and the victim was grazed by bullets in his head and his leg.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital, but police said he was walking and talking after the shooting.

Police say the gunman got away in a gold colored SUV.

They have no motive for the shooting but say they have evidence that they think will lead them to the shooter.

Police say the man spoke with the shooter before the crime, but it wasn’t apparent what they were talking about. Then the shooter pulled out a gun.

Brigid Thorburn was getting her car washed nearby and looked up after hearing one of the first gunshots.

“I saw one shot. I heard two shots when I was in my car and I looked up and saw him back up and shoot one more time,” she said.

Chad Geer manages the Carisma Wash across the street from Burger King.

He said during lunchtime, the area is busy with business customers.

“Lunchtime is really a busy area for everybody around here. The car wash is always doing a lot of cars and Burger King has a lot of customers over there. This is a first for us,” Geer said.
