MAGNOLIA, Texas – For much of Thursday evening, crime scene tape shut down a portion of Forest Ridge Drive as the the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office investigated an apparent murder-suicide.
Nearby neighbors were left worried about what happened only a few doors down.
Wendy Vogler, who lives nearby, said, "I kind of asked what was going on and, it's just very unsettling. This is too close to home."
Authorities say the couple killed was 60-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
According to detectives, it was a relative who hadn't heard from the woman and was checking on her who discovered their bodies.
"We do know that individuals came here to check on their welfare on the 29th, the female had not shown up to work for a couple of days and today a family member did make entry and found the two deceased," Lt. Brady Fitzgerald with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.
While it's still unclear what led to the couple's death and something detectives are working to figure out, neighbors say had they known something was wrong, they would've stepped in.
"Wish I would've known and maybe helped. This feels like I'm in the twilight zone, doesn't belong here. This is a very quiet community," said Vogler.
