Alexandria Lowitzer was last seen getting off her school bus on April 26, 2010. She was 16 at the time.
Her parents said she was last seen texting on her phone, and was believed to be on her way to pick up a paycheck at a restaurant.
The family said they have limited resources to look for Alexandria because she is considered a runaway instead of a missing person.
"That means we have no access to Crime Stoppers or Texas Rangers," said Alexandria's father, John Lowitzer. "We know our daughter, and she's not a runaway. She's a homebody."
The family has organized a search set for Saturday. They said they hope drought conditions will help searchers find some answers.
"We're expecting at least 60 people," said Alexandria's mother, Jo Ann. "We'll focus on water areas that have gone down."
The search is set to begin at Northwoods Baptist Church, 5803 Treaschwig Road, in Spring. It will run from 7 a.m. to noon and volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
