CHANNELVIEW, Texas – Attorneys representing two workers injured in a Channelview plant explosion have filed a temporary restraining order to prevent critical evidence from being lost, damaged or manipulated.
It is strongly believed that a "hot work" permit was improperly issued without the plant taking all safety precautions to make sure the pipe was clear of all volatile substances prior to work by the welder. Officials said they also believed that the welding machine malfunctioned causing the volatile substance to ignite, which ultimately caused the explosion.

The TRO was filed in order to preserve evidence, to retain the status quo, to retain the welding machine in the same condition that it was in at the time of the explosion and to ensure that all evidence surrounding this explosion is preserved.
