HOUSTON – It's a big day for the University of Houston and fans of its football program. On Wednesday, UH unveiled the renderings of the new, yet to be named, football stadium.
The continuous bowled stadium will contain at least 40,000 seats and features a special coated corrugated metal exterior skin with an opening on the stadium's northwest side to frame the dynamic downtown Houston skyline.

Last week, demolition crews started demolishing the 70-year-old Robertson Stadium on the school's southeast Houston campus.
Crews so far have removed the concession stands that were in the end zones. They are now working to remove the stands along the Scott Street side of the stadium.
The new $105 million stadium is set to open in August 2014.
