HOUSTON – The Houston Zoo experienced a power outage around 3 p.m. on Monday.
Officials say a fuse tripped outside of the zoo in Hermann Park and affected the zoo's power.

According to officials, the zoo ran on a backup generator for the Commissary, which stores all of the food for the animals as well as the water system for the aquariums.
Officials say the animal shift doors are manually run so there was no problem with caged animals getting out.
Centerpoint Energy fixed the outage around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Zoo visitors who already purchased tickets close to the time the power went out will have their tickets honored for 90 days.
