Weatherford International to cut 8,000 jobs in first half of 2015

HOUSTON – Weatherford International confirms with KPRC2 that the company will cut 8,000 jobs in the first half of 2015, and most of the layoffs will happen in the U.S.

The Houston-operated company said it is making the move to cut costs in the wake of falling oil prices. The first 5,000 jobs will be cut in the first quarter of 2015 and 3,000 will be cut in a second phase.

The company last reported around 3,800 employees in the Houston region.
