Andy Cerota joined the KPRC 2 News team in June 2012.
He's no stranger to Houston viewers, though, since he worked at KTRK-TV for more than nine years.

Before moving to Houston, Andy worked at KCOP-TV in Los Angeles, KPNX-TV in Phoenix, KXAN-TV in Austin and KTXS-TV in Abilene.
Andy was born in the Bronx, New York, and grew up in Rockland County, in suburban New York City.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of Northern Colorado.
Andy loves the story-telling nature of his job.
"Getting out into the community and making a difference. Telling stories that are impactful," he said.
Andy was proud when he received an Emmy nomination for a community affairs segment he wrote and co-produced.
"The piece was on the Tolerance Sculpture along Allen Parkway. It was put there in honor of a local teen who was the victim of a hate crime. The young man survived the attack but later took his own life," Andy said.
Some of his funniest on-air moments were zip-lining on live television and learning how to barefoot water-ski for a news story.
Andy's family includes four-legged friends. He has two French bulldogs -- Bruno and Niko.
"The loves and joys of my life. Built like small tanks with huge personalities. They are true clowns and an every day source of joy and laughter," Andy said.
When he's not working, Andy enjoys adventure athletics.
"I run, bike, lift weights. I've been known to do all three in the same day. In December 2011, I completed my first 'Tough Mudder'- a 12 mile mud run with 29 major obstacles along the route. I'm passionate about health, fitness & travel," he said.
He loves to travel and learn about different cultures. But he considers Houston home.
"Houston has such heart and soul. It's so diverse and has so many things to offer. I may be a native New Yorker but Houston is my home. It's a privilege to be invited into your homes to share the kind of stories that are important to you," he said.
