Dickinson police received a call about a burglary in progress at a home in the 2300 of Oak Drive around 10 p.m.
According to police, a woman was at her home when an unknown person entered. The homeowner grabbed her gun, went to another room and called 911.
While patrol officers were on the way to the home, a neighbor called police to report seeing a suspicious person with a flashlight get into a dark-colored truck and leave the scene.
Officers located a truck matching the description leaving the area and tried to pull it over. The driver refused to stop, which resulted in a pursuit through Dickinson and into Texas City.
Texas City police joined in the chase, which eventually ended at I-45 and Century Blvd. Three people ran from the truck and officers were able to capture the driver, 20-year-old Pearland resident William Jones.
The Galveston County Sheriff's Office and Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers also assisted in the search.
Officers located a large amount of items, including televisions, jewelry and personal papers inside the truck.
The suspect(s) are believed to possibly be responsible for at least four residential burglaries during the evening, including one that occurred in League City, police say.
Jones' bond was set at $40,000.
The investigation is ongoing and the filing of additional charges are pending.
