Jeep plows into businesses in Galleria area

HOUSTON – A shopping center near the Galleria turned into a mess Thursday afternoon after a car plowed into one business, and ended up inside another.

"All of a sudden just crash, bang, and then there was a car in the store," said Cindy Peters, owner of Blossoms Floral Designs.

Peters opened the business 21 years ago on Woodway Drive near Voss. She said she was consulting with a bride about her wedding when all of a sudden the items she had hanging on the walls started falling off.

"I thought first the people next door were hammering something on the walls and I thought wow that is a lot," said Peters.

Officers said a woman driving a silver Jeep Cherokee with her husband in the passenger seat, drove right into the front glass doors of French Cuff Boutique, then through the wall and into Blossoms Floral Designs.

From Sky 2 you could see the extensive damage.

Peters said the woman and her husband were stuck inside their SUV because of all the debris covering the vehicle.

"She was just like, 'I don't know how this happened. I am a really good driver,'" said Peters.

The Houston Fire Department was called out to the scene and helped the couple out of the Jeep. Even though there were employees and customers inside both stores, no one was injured.

Officers are now trying to figure out what caused the woman to crash into the stores.
