HOUSTON – A company that promised fast face-lifts has closed its doors with no warning. We first told you about the story Tuesday night on KPRC 2 News at 10. Now we're hearing from one Lifestyle Lift patient who said she's now out a lot of money.
Imagine you pay your deposit for a cosmetic procedure and make your plans, only to find that the office has closed. That's what some people found with a nationally-known company and procedure.
The Lifestyle Lift office on Yorktown near the Galleria is closed, as are their offices across the country. Patients, as well as the doctors who worked there, said they didn't have any warning.
"I got a call Monday at 4:55 to be exact and they said our office is closed," said a patient who we will call Miranda.
The 55-year-old patient was scheduled to have the Lifestyle Lift procedure Thursday. She said she has already paid more than $2,500. She fears she will lose at least $1,500.
"It takes a lot where you're actually to the point you're going to have the procedure done, and to be comfortable and in that situation, and expecting to have it done and then all of a sudden, a wrench gets thrown in the plans and everything you thought was going to happen is gone," said Miranda.
"It was just as frustrating for me, too. I show up and the doors are locked," said Dr. Kevin Smith, with the Smith Cosmetic Surgery Center.
Smith is the doctor who was scheduled to do Miranda's Lifestyle Lift in the now-closed office.
"The doors are shut over there. But they are open over here. And I can do the same procedure, modify the procedure, and just make them happy is my main thing and the follow-ups." said Smith.
He and other doctors who performed procedures at the Lifestyle Lift office are making new arrangements with patients.
"The Lifestyle Lift doctors have practices, and we'll be happy to see these patients in our practices and do whatever we need to do to treat these patients right. This was a surprise not only to the people who worked at Lifestyle Lift, but also the patients," said Dr. Joseph Perlman, with Advanced Plastic Surgery Center.
Miranda's procedure is still on for Thursday, just in a different office.
The Wall Street Journal reports the company is considering filing for bankruptcy. The company had 40 surgery centers across the country.
