2 hospitalized after drive-by shooting in north Houston

HOUSTON – Police are investigating after a gunman drove by an apartment complex in north Houston and opened fire on two men Thursday morning.

Houston police said the shooting was reported just before 5 a.m. near an apartment complex on Northborough Drive.

The shooter drove by the apartment complex in a turquoise Toyota Tundra and fired five shots, hitting Santini Townes, 34, in the arm and Cornelius Williams, 34, in the head, according to police. 

Authorities said Williams was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition. According to police, he underwent surgery and is not expected to survive.

Townes was taken to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The gunman was described to be around 21-26 years of age and 5 feet and 6 inches tall. Police say he weighs around 130 to 160 pounds.

The shooter remains on the loose.
