HOUSTON – One man was found dead after a robbery led to a shooting Tuesday morning, according to Houston police.
According to officers, the shooting was reported around 6:05 a.m. in the 2200 block of Pannell Street.
Family of the victim identify him as Epifanio Martinez.
According to police, Martinez and another man were standing in Martinez's front yard, about to leave for work, when two men approached them, demanding money.
One man told the robbers he didn't have any money, according to police. They then approached Martinez.
"There was some sort of struggle involved. A shot was fired. He died at the scene," said Detective Phil Waters, HPD Homicide Division.
A neighbor heard the shot and tried to perform CPR, but it was too late.
"All he was trying to do is go to work and make a living," said Joann Rosas, a friend.
The armed suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build, black hair and an unshaven face. He was wearing brown shorts and a black T-shirt.
The second suspect is described as a black male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build, very short black hair and a thin goatee. He was wearing black shorts and a brown shirt.
Police are also searching for a third man who drove the getaway car, which is described as a gray four door sedan.
