CYPRESS, Texas – Cell phone video showing several girls fighting at Cy Lakes High School is making the rounds on social media.
The video is now being spread on sites like YouTube and Instagram.
Student Tyree Thomas saw the fight on campus.
"People have nerves just getting back to school. They have been having beef for a while, those girls. So it was bound to happen eventually," Thomas said.
In the video, you can see a group of girls grabbing each other's shirts and hair. After a few minutes, it appears a school administrator and school resource officer were able to step in and stop the brawl.
Parents are worried about the violence and their kids' safety.
"My son is a freshman here and he is new and I always worry about him," parent Breanna Nunez said.
Cy Fair ISD released a statement to KPRC 2 News that reads, "We are extremely disappointed to see this type of behavior. This is not a representation of the pride our students take in themselves and our campus. The altercation was quickly broken up by staff and the students involved were disciplined according to the student code of conduct."
The district said four students were disciplined, but no arrests were made. The motive behind the fight is still under investigation.
