HOUSTON – All seven candidates will face off in the KPRC 2 & Telemundo Houston 'Decision 2015: Houston Mayoral Debate' on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
Adrian Garcia has served Houstonians for more than 35 years. After serving 23 years as a police officer, he was appointed to HPD's liaison to the Mayor's Anti-Gang Office by Mayor Bob Lanier -- he was later named director.

After leaving HPD, Adrian served as a Houston City Councilman, eventually becoming Mayor Pro Tempore under Mayor Bill White. Adrian chaired the Public Safety committee, while also serving on the Minority Business Women Enterprise, Fiscal Affairs, and Flooding and Drainage committees.
In 2008, Adrian Garcia was elected Harris County Sheriff. He used innovative ideas to clean up the existing mess in the department by reducing the overcrowding at the country's third largest jail, bringing diversity to his command staff, and working to be a visible, community-oriented law enforcement officer the public could trust.
